Run Run Run

Happy Friday! I'm stoked that the work week is finally over! Tonight, me and a bunch of my friends are running the Annual Palo Alto Moonlight Run for charity. It's my first race ever so I feel stoked but nervous and scared at the same time that I might end up as runners' roadkill.

I took some time last night to make a little last minute Race playlist which is comprised of songs from my college hay-days in the Durrty South. There's nothing like running to the beats of Snoop Dogg and The Ying Yang Twins to get your heart pumping and kick-start your adrenaline.

Giving Back

Wow, it's so nice to be blogging again! I took a little break to get my self together before heading home to Texas for the holidays, and now that I'm here I can finally just relax!

Before I took off, my friend Martha invited Derek and I to help sponsor a less fortunate family and help make their Christmas a little brighter this year. After shopping for all the gifts, I invited the girls to come over for a wrapping party. We had a great time drinking hot cocoa and listening to Christmas music as we took on the roles of Santa's elves that evening. I had such an amazing feeling in my heart throughout the whole process. It was exactly what I needed to help get me back into the Holiday spirit. Whoever said "To give is better than to receive" was right. I'm definitely planning on making this a yearly Christmas tradition =)

Now that I'm back in Texas, I'm sure I'll have a ton of fun stuff to blog about. Especially since they do everything BIG here! Have an amazing weekend everyone =)

The Uniform Project-Little Black Dress for a BIG cause

Working in the non-profit sector has inspired me to look for other creative ways to give back.

This week, I came across a clever campaign founded by the lovely Sheena Matheiken, who has teamed up with her friend, designer Eliza Starbuck, to raise money for the Akanksha Foundation which raises funds to bring quality education to children living in the slums of India. Sheena has pledged to wear the same dress, uniquely accessorized each day for an entire year to help support the cause. See how one versatile wardrobe staple and a keen eye for style transform fashion into a stylish way of giving back.

I'm planning on doing my part by donating accessories and later purchasing this LBD once it becomes available on the market. I really admire Sheena's philanthropic drive and not to mention her ability to rock a killer bob.
