{chris martin of coldplay. I wish he could sing me to sleep every night. He put on such an amazing show. Check out his performance of the classic "earth angel" here}
{the fabulous Gwen and No Doubt. I've been in love with her since '95 and things haven't changed since then.}

This year we gathered a handful of friends to attend the Bridge School Benefit concert. The ten of us spent a gorgeous day supporting an important cause and jammin to great music. What I love about this concert is the casualness of it all. Even the biggest stars came dressed down and performed with such graciousness, brushing off their celebrity status to focus on the cause at heart. You can count on me being in attendance for many years to come =)

Happy Howl-o-ween

{aren't they the cutest insects you've ever seen?}

{burger sticking his tongue out at me. What a cutie!}

Last year we dressed the dogs up as sweet little bumble bees for halloween. The costumes didn't stay on for more than half an hour, so while they were in a picture taking mood, I snapped all the photos I could before they began to unravel. Thanks to the economy, Burger and Derby will probably do an encore of their bumble bee alter egos, but I don't think they mind. I bet they are praying I forget about them all together haha.

The weekend has loads of fun in store for us. Festive celebrations and music festivals galore! Tell you more about it on Monday ;)

Scenes from the Outside Lands Music Festival 2009

D & I's day of music euphoria was nothing short of spectacular. Armed with a backpack full of essentials, a change of clothes, and a printout of the entire california public transportation system's schedule, I failed miserably at channeling my inner hippie. Being over prepared makes me so "uncool", but whatever, cuz when the San Francisco chill rolled in later that evening, I, unlike the majority of the half-naked spectators enjoyed the concert sprawled out on my picnic blanket in the comfort of my comfy jeans and hoodie. I fell in love with Jason Mraz's sweet serenade, jammed and danced my booty off to the black eyed peas, and was mesmerized by the sounds of the Dave Matthews Band. My next goal will be to attend Coachella, but I will definitely be back at OSL next year!

vintage friday

This Friday's Vintage photo is of none other than my good ole' pops. I love his shaggy 70's hair and old school shades that have incidentally come back into style this summer. The more I stare at this picture, the more I see where my awkward lankiness comes from... haha thanks Dad!

Hope you lovelies have a wonderful weekend. Derek and I will be at the Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco tomorrow jammin to the Dave Matthews Band, Mars Volta, Jason Mraz, Black Eyed Peas, and many more amazing artists, while sampling delicious food from renowned San Francisco eateries. I'm so excited :) Tell you more about it later.

xoxo,
Melissa

SF Outside Lands Music Festival

In addition to D's surprise birthday soiree, I decided to get him tickets to San Francisco's Outside Lands Music festival. This Saturday we are going to brave the crowds of thousands of fellow music lovers, and channel our inner hippie. Because I have never attended a music festival of this enormity, I read several forums to help prepare myself, and avoid disaster. Tomorrow I'll be heading to Bed Bath and Beyond to invest in a sturdy outdoor blanket for Saturday's adventure. If anyone has any suggestions for me, send them my way!
