Taking a Leap of Faith

{training for my skydive (that never happened) on my 21st birthday}

Thank you all for your sweet comments in response to yesterday's post. I'm so glad to know I have such a strong support system during this challenging time in my life. To be honest, I've been completely overwhelmed physically, emotionally, and academically over the past few weeks, and the uncertainty of the future unfortunately heightens my anxiety to the Nth degree. My hope for this year is to be able to gather the courage to take a leap of faith in the right direction. Years ago, on my 21st birthday, I was supposed to go skydiving, and at the last moment right before I stepped onto the plane, it began to downpour- thunder, lightning, and all. So you see, I haven't had the chance to take that plunge yet.
Maybe I'm ready to do it now. Slowly but surely...

What are some ways you have taken a leap of faith in your lifetime? I'd love to hear them and be inspired =)

xoxo

  1. Hey there, stopping by from SITS! I only just came here for the first time today but I feel your pain on the overwhelmed part of your post... at least I can empathize a bit, without knowing exactly what you're going through. I'm so sad you didn't get to go sky diving yet, that's something I sooo want to do!

    But rest assured in the knowledge that God has good things for you... not just good things, but GREAT things! if you just keep on in faith. :)

    Have an Extraordinary Day!

  2. I was just talking to Marc last night about how everything in our lives so far has been for the most part, had some degree of certainty. I envy those people who can just up and go to try something new without ever looking back. Slowly yet surely, I hope to get in that mode soon because if we don't take these leaps of faith, we might miss out on some amazing life-changing opportunities. Life is a never-ending roller coaster. I like to believe in the saying that "this too shall pass." Wishing you happy days ahead. :)

  3. oh my goodness! you are so brave! i'm deathly afraid of heights. BUT if you put your mind to it, you can do anything. some times you just need to take that leap, even though you have no idea what will happen and you cannot be in control. but that's life.

    hope you're feeling better!

  6. Oh, sweetheart. Whatever you're going through, my heart goes out to you. Leaps of faith are good things. I've told myself many times in the past, during some horribly dark days, that things will be better and make sense. My path has always taken me to unexpected places, and it's sometimes seemed like I was being pushed toward things I'd never thought of before. The best is to believe in yourself and your goodness and the goodness of others. And when you get a chance again, skydive.

  7. I hope things turn around for you soon. The biggest leaps of faith I've taken is telling people how I've felt about them. It hasn't always worked out as I had hoped, but I don't believe you should go through life wondering what could have been.

    I just read your comment on Leah’s blog about the poem I wrote, “Ode to Leah”. Thanks for your kind words, they’re much appreciated!

  8. Hey sweetie. Sky diving sure puts in new meaning to the saying "a leap of faith". Gosh, I don't think I'd have enough guts to go skydiving! That seems pretty scary. I'm afraid of heights. But who knows, maybe someday I'll try to overcome that. =)

    Take it one step at a time sweetie, and you'll be able to overcome anything. =)
